Key Milestones of the 2024 SAI20 Edition

In order to influence the G20 discussions by providing concrete policy recommendations that recognize the strategic value of SAIs to the governments of the Group, the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts has structured the 2024 SAI20 edition around three central events:

• Online technical meetings: Held between February and March, the online technical meetings on each of the themes of this edition of the SAI20 allowed delegations to collaboratively identify and prioritize the key messages that should be endorsed by SAIs, focusing on the fight against hunger and poverty and on climate financing and energy transitions.
• Senior officials meeting: This meeting brought together high-level SAI experts in April in Brasília, as the final preparatory action organized before the Summit. With a program divided between thematic panels and facilitated debate sessions, the meeting aimed to promote the collective construction of a Communiqué representing the participating institutions of the SAI20.
• Summit: A technical and political event that gathered SAI20 authorities from June 16 to 18 in Belém, Pará, for the formal adoption of the Communiqué to be presented to the G20.

Brazil’s G20 presidency

Brazil’s G20 presidency has the theme “Building a fair world and a sustainable planet” and three priority lines of action:

• Promotion of social inclusion and fight against hunger;
• Proposal of a specific focus on the challenges of energy transition and sustainable development, considering the social, economic and environmental pillars; and
• The progress in the reform of global governance institutions
