The Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) took over, on December 1, the presidency of the SAI20, the engagement group composed by the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) of the G20 countries. SAI India was the previous leader of the SAI20. The hand over ceremony took place on Monday, December 4, in a virtual meeting with representatives of several SAIs.

The main topic is aligned with the G20 agenda, which highlights climate financing and the fight against hunger and poverty as global and urgent concerns that require the attention and coordinated action of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI).

TCU, in taking over the presidency, commits to leading discussions and proposing solutions through the promotion of responsible public policies that impact positively the environment and the communities.

About the SAI20

The SAI20 – Supreme Audit Institution Engagement Group of 20 – was formed in September 2021 as a result of an initiative from SAI Indonesia (BPK). The group supports governments in restoring global economic conditions and in developing public policies for the improvement of life quality in the world.

From the start, SAI 20 has held virtual and in-person technical meetings to establish commitments, rules, and work agendas. In 2024, two in-person meetings are scheduled to take place in Brazil: the Senior Officers Meeting and the SAI20 Summit.

Among the group’s goals, we can highlight sharing of best practices and efforts to approach global challenges, such as poverty, hunger, and climate change related issues.
