NUSA DUA, KOMPAS.com — Chair of the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI20) Isma Yatun emphasized the commitment of financial audit institution in the G20 participating countries in supporting the acceleration of post-pandemic economic recovery. Isma said, a number of countries began to focus on restoring the economy and achieving sustainable development targets after the Covid-19 pandemic began to subside. “SAI20 is here to contribute significantly in accelerating economic recovery and achieving the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), which are the two priority issues of the current SAI20 Summit,” said Isma when giving a speech at Sofiten, Nusa Dua, Bali, Tuesday (30/30). 8/2022).
Isma emphasized that the establishment of SAI20 is the first step for state financial audit bodies supporting the G20 program. SAI20 is a new engagement group initiated by the Indonesian Supreme Audit Agency in the G20 Indonesia Presidency. The chairman of the BPK RI said that in the SAI20 Summit which was held in the last two days, this association of financial audit bodies had adopted the rules of procedure for SAI20. The rules of procedure are internal governance guidelines.
Meanwhile, the SAI20 Summit will endorse a communique or joint statement. Later, the communique will be delivered to the G20 community. “The communique focuses on accelerating economic recovery and supporting sustainable development goals,” he said. In his speech, Isma also mentioned the collaboration between the auditing agency and other institutions, such as the parliament. According to Isma, Parliament20, an engagement group containing parliaments from G20 countries, has the same interests as SAI20. “Thus, SAI20 needs to work together with representative institutions and other stakeholders to carry out an independent oversight function to ensure the policies and programs of the G20 countries,” said Isma.
Isma also appreciated the arrival of the Chair of Indonesia’s House of Representative (DPR-RI) Puan Maharani at the second day of the SAI20 Summit. He emphasized that Puan’s presence showed real collaboration in facing future challenges. “With the spirit of ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger’, we hope that the SAI20 Summit will be an important milestone for the SAI20 community to contribute more significantly to the global community,” he said. The SAI20 Summit was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on August 29-30, 2022. This activity was attended by 12 G20 participating countries. A total of eight countries were present in Bali, while the other four attended this high-level conference virtually.
